Tweed Heads Real Estate. tweedheadsrealestate.com
The Tweed Valley is situated in NSW on the Queensland border. The large bustling coastal centre of Tweed Heads is located right next to its twin town of Coolangatta. It is a centre of commerce and tourism with a variety of sporting, recreational and social clubs Like Twin Towns Services Club, Tweed Heads Bowls Club & Tweed Heads Coolangatta Golf Club.
Being right on the Tweed River there are homes which have water access onto Boat Harbour and the canals just a stones throw from the centre of town. The Tweed Valley consists of 35kms of beaches and estuaries, small villages and headlands stretching from Fingal, Kingscliff, Bogangar, to the more remote Pottsville Beach further to the south, which has turned from a sleepy backwater to one of the fastest growing urban areas in the country. Current major Pottsville developments are Black Rocks by the Sea Estate, Koala Estate and Seabreaze Estate which includes a shopping complex.
Proceeding inland on the Pacific Highway which runs along the Tweed River, not far out of Tweed Heads you drive past the attractive hamlet of Tumbulgum and a little further through Murwillumbah with its backdrop of Mt. Warning. Murwillumbah is a picturesque town that spreads along the western bank of the twisting Tweed River surrounded by neatly ploughed fields which make up the beautiful Tweed Valley.
Kingscliff has a large retired population and is a quaint village on the coast with old fashion shops fronting the road. Across the road is a permanent resident caravan park. The beach is hidden by low rise scrub which is common on the coast of NSW. It has a sleepy ‘yesterday’ feel about it, as does a lot of the Tweed Valley, but that would appear to be changing because just around the corner from ‘old’ Kingscliff is Salt, a state of the art residential development on the beach. It is an enormous development with luxury hotel resorts (both local and overseas) interspersed with shops, restaurants and housing. The old continues to make way for the new. This is the way of the north NSW and Queensland coast. Salt will not be the last of the new estates in the area as developers are continually searching out new opportunities and the NSW State Government has given the go ahead for thousands of new dwellings. However, the government has pointed out that the development will not be like SE Queensland and will focus on sustainable growth and retaining the local character. If you don’t want to be part of a modern development but prefer a quiet haven you will need to do your homework to make sure a developer doesn’t have big plans for your neighbourhood. Another point of difference in Tweed is the ban on really high rise developments outside the central district.
